About the National Guild
Established in 1937, the National Guild provides leadership, advocacy
and service to the community arts education field. Its 370+ members
are nonprofit, non-degree granting, community-based organizations
that provide direct instruction to over 600,000 students in 45 states,
employ over 16,000 teaching artists, and partner with public schools,
senior centers, public agencies and other organizations to ensure
the broadest possible access to high quality, sequential arts education.
Guild members range from community schools of the arts, to arts
centers, to youth theatres and symphonies, to community divisions
of museums, universities, and dance companies. Together, they share
a commitment to quality, accessibility and accountability in arts
education, and work to engender a lifelong love of, and participation
in, the arts in diverse communities from coast-to-coast.
